The archipelago is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the world’s third most attractive tourist destination, according to National Geographic.
Have you ever heard of Lofoten? The unusual ringing name covers a special Norwegian archipelago, which is located north of the Arctic Circle between latitude 67 and 68. And while we might rightly think that Lofoten is synonymous with the constant frosty weather, this is not the case with the Gulf Stream.
It is one of the most significant temperature anomalies on Earth. While temperatures in the surrounding areas can drop to minus 20 degrees Celsius, the Lofoten Islands only experience temperatures of around 0 degrees Celsius. In total, the archipelago consists of 60 islands of varying sizes, connected by bridges, tunnels and ferry crossings. The population of around 20,000 lives mainly from cod fishing.
Lofoten is a photographer’s paradise, with a varied landscape offering a wealth of photographic opportunities. The fjords and bays are stunning and the natural beauty is captivating. In February, during the tour, there is a good chance of seeing one of the world’s most spectacular natural phenomena, the aurora borealis.
During the trip, we will focus mainly on nature photography, but the itinerary will be flexible to weather conditions to ensure the best photo opportunities in all conditions.

Meeting at a hotel near Harstad / Narvik Airport. During the dinner we get to know the participants of the tour.
After breakfast, we depart in spacious, comfortable rental cars (not minibuses) for our destination. On the way, we shop at a large grocery store for breakfast. During the journey we will stop several times to take our cameras and get a taste of the Norwegian air. We arrive at our headquarters in the evening. The following days we will take a star tour of the island's coastline, fjords and small fishing villages. Dinner in the evening at a nearby restaurant. Watching the night sky, if conditions are favourable, we can photograph aurora borealis.
At sunrise we will be out in the field to photograph in magical light. After photography, breakfast at a nearby restaurant, while we discuss the day's activities. The rest of the day will be spent on the sandy beaches of Fredvang and Skagsanden and the surrounding area. After dinner, we photograph the aurora borealis, which, if lucky, paints the night sky green.
Again on this day, we'll head out to a nearby photo point in time to experience one of the most beautiful mornings in the world, with the Norwegian sunrise. We will then enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet in the familiar restaurant. The rest of the day is spent in the Storsandnes and Myrland area, practicing camera set-up and handling. Dinner today is again at a nearby restaurant, where we'll enjoy a wide variety of freshly caught seafood. After a delicious meal, we can end our day by photographing the aurora borealis.
By now, we will overtake the sunrise with the usual early awakening to enrich the number of wonderful morning photos in our gallery. Our destination for this day is the area around Haukland and Uttakleiv. Rocky, sandy beaches offer a photo theme on almost every bend. After a warm restaurant dinner, if luck comes with us, we'll take photos of the Aurora Borealis.
We start at sunrise with a photo shoot in another spectacular location. Then we head to the restaurant, have breakfast and get ready for our trip for the day. The rest of the day is spent in Sund and the Nusfjord area. We walk among the spectacular "Norwegian red" houses and take photos until we run out of breath. After eating our freshly prepared dinner, we head to a nearby sandy beach to use it as a foreground for some polar landscape photos.
After breakfast we return to the hotel next to Harstad/Narvik Airport. During the trip we stop several times in the beautiful fjords and take photos. In the evening, we’ll have our dinner at a hotel near the airport.
After breakfast at the hotel, we say goodbye to one of the most beautiful islands in sea-scented Norway and head home.
In order to get the best photos possible during the tour, it is sometimes necessary to make sacrifices. There may be unexpected events – weather changes and other environmental factors – that override the planned program. For us, participants’ safety is of the utmost importance: if a program is cancelled or delayed, it will only be to provide the best possible experience.
If, due to an unexpected event, a program cannot be completed at all at the announced time, the tour guide will try to reorganize and regroup the programs.
The most important thing for the organizers is to have fun, but the final decision is theirs and must be followed by all participants.
Good health is a prerequisite for travelling. Serious cardiovascular problems, nervous and mental disorders can be disqualifying factors. Consult your doctor if your personal condition requires it
Our guides will show you what to do and how to do it. We deal with everyone individually. We adapt to the circumstances. If the weather or the lighting conditions are inadequate, we will return to photographing the subject in the most appropriate conditions. One thing is for sure: thanks to the memory card in our camera (not to mention ours), the memory of travel will be with us forever.
The first and last night will be spent at a hotel near Harstad/Narvik Airport in double rooms. The rooms have bathroom, LCD TV, free Wifi. Breakfast and dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.
We spend 5 nights in two completely renovated, cozy Norwegian houses (1 house for 4 people) right on the beach. Each house has 3 bedrooms, a bathroom, a fully equipped kitchen and a living room. The area is beautiful, and the northern lights can literally be photographed from the window. The breakfasts and dinners will be served in a nearby restaurant.
Tour guide
I hiked, climbed mountains, and then I wanted to bring home what I saw in the mountains, so photography came into my life as a hobby, and after ten years as a profession. I’ve shared my experiences and what I’ve seen with the public in several exhibitions and travelogues. Since I decided to get the FIAP (Fédération Internationale de I’Art Photographique), I have been awarded special prizes, distinctions and acceptances in international competitions. I want to show our travellers the exciting and varied world of landscape photography.
Tour guide
I started out photographing birds, with which I achieved good results in national and international competitions. After a while my interest turned to landscape photography. Two years ago I also started to explore the mysteries of drone photography.
My work has been successfully entered in competitions such as National Geographic, Nature Photographer of the Year, Magic Hungary, PCCS International Salon, Sony, vadon.ro, IBP Dreamscapes International Salon, MAFOSZ, FIAP, Pannonia Reflections, BPOTY and WildLifePhoto.
My photographs are in permanent exhibitions and I have recently had two books published privately.
Tour guide
Photography is not just a hobby for me – it is a passion inspired by my love of nature. I am fascinated by the beauty of the landscape and the uniqueness of the built environment. Photographic tours allow us to get closer to the wonders of nature, to discover the beauty that surrounds us and to get away from the hustle and bustle of the world. Besides landscape photography, interior and street photography have a special place in my life. In 2023, I tried to deepen my knowledge in this field by taking a course in Street Photography at MOME. My pictures try to capture the special atmosphere of each location, the magic of the moment and the diversity of the world.
